A chance to bring shark fin trade under control

Help protect threatened sharks and rays

Every couple of years, governments around the world get together for CITES—the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna. The goal of CITES is to ensure that international trade in animals does not threaten the survival of species.

The international trade in animals and, disturbingly, their body parts is an ongoing and significant threat to so much wildlife across the world.

Hammerheads, guitarfish and requiem sharks are all being considered for CITES trade controls. Some countries will resist environmental controls over their fishing.

Will you help us by writing to the federal environment minister, The Hon. Tanya Plibersek MP, and give your full support for the Australian delegation supporting the listing of all of the nominated shark and ray species at CITES?
